The Spanish company expanded its logistics capabilities throughout 2024, allowing them to follow every step of the handling and shipping process with total efficiency. Focusing on the concept of sustainability for the design and manufacturing of the COE collection.
After successfully overcoming the challenge of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, Joma is once again putting all its potential into operation for the 2024 Olympic event. One of the challenges to face is sponsoring the Spanish Olympic Committee and all the tasks involved in designing, producing, and distributing the new collection. For the Spanish brand, this is just one part, as they recently announced that they had set a record for dressing 15% of Olympic athletes.
Now, just a few weeks away from the most important sporting event of the next four years, Joma aims to successfully complete the most hectic stage by continuing to invest all its available resources, as they have been doing for months.
To provide a global perspective, here is some relevant data with the aim of giving a small sample of the effort and commitment involved in being the brand responsible for providing apparel to the Spanish representatives in the French city.
Figures:
- Production
Only for the Spanish Committee, Joma has produced almost 60,000 items. It should be noted that they also provide Olympic uniforms to another dozen delegations, such as the Portuguese, for whom they have made 6,000 items as part of their uniforms.
- Design
The COE collection has broken all the schemes in terms of design by doubling the number of products compared to the Tokyo Games: fifty-four in total. Differentiated patterns that cover a wide range of sizes to adapt to anybody. Footwear from size 36 to 52, and clothing from S to 5XL.
- Sustainability
The entire collection is focused on sustainability, ranging from the design and production of uniforms with recycled fabric all the way to their labels.
- Logistics
More than seven hundred people have received a personalized package with exclusive packaging. To organize this part and avoid errors, Joma has once again used a computer platform created specifically for this, where each one has reported their sizes and has included all personal information for shipments. Olympic athletes and the technical team have a special shipment consisting of a personalized agenda, a toiletry bag, cosmetics, sunscreen, regenerating hand and foot cream, cold effect cream, and hot effect cream for muscle regeneration.
“The central headquarters has expanded to over 90,000 square meters“
The success of this project is possible thanks to the investment that the company has made in recent years in its logistics center in Portillo de Toledo. During the last year, the central headquarters has expanded to over 90,000 square meters.
The modern facilities include an intelligent warehouse with integrated cutting-edge logistics technology and six robots facilitating the distribution of each of the almost 60,000 COE units. The life cycle of each unit passes through different robots: from order management to shipments, interconnected by air belts. In short, a logistics efficiency typical of a large company willing to give the final sprint in its Olympic year.
