Motagua, sponsored by Joma, have been crowned Honduran Apertura Champions for the 14th time in their history after beating Platense 2-1 on aggregate in Los Angeles. The Ciclon Azul held Platense to a 1-1 draw in the second-leg, meaning the 1-0 first-leg victory proved decisive. The home team took the lead in first-half stoppage time when Jorge Cardona took advantage of a high ball into the box and fired in from 11 yards.
Visitors Motagua levelled in the 60th minute to win and qualify for its fourth Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League in 2017/18.
